Martha’s Care College of Science, the first College in Nigeria with a focus on caregiving, integrates a wide range of supportive and entrepreneurial components designed to produce graduates of global standards. Located in the serene town of Igbogene-Epie in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, the institution is set to commence academic activities on August 30, 2024.

Martha’s Care College of Science is a fully residential institution, providing all students with accommodation in a modern, well-equipped hostel.

The College is pleased to announce a vacancy for the position of Bursar. Interested candidates must demonstrate intellectual excellence, integrity, and sound judgment. Additionally, candidates must meet the following qualifications:

The Bursar

The Bursar will be the Head of the Finance Department and will report directly to the Provost, overseeing the day-to-day financial administration of the College.

Qualifications and Responsibilities

• Educational and Professional Background:
  • A good first degree with a minimum of second-class upper division or a Master’s degree with at least an upper credit in Accountancy or a related field.
  • Professionally recognized accountancy qualifications.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of cognate experience in finance and accounting.
• Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the financial administration of the College, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Prepare budget operations and develop short- and long-term investment plans.
  • Coordinate the development and updating of the College Financial Management Plans.
  • Maintain accurate records of all local and foreign assets and liabilities held by the College.
  • Manage the College’s investment portfolio.
  • Monitor and ensure the prompt and effective production of audited accounts for the College.

TERMS OF APPOINTMENT AND CONDITIONS OF SERVICE

The appointment is for a single tenure of five (5) years in line with existing provisions.

15. Statement of own vision for the College (20 copies)
16. Other activities outside current employment
17. Names and addresses of three (3) Referees (Employer, Educational, and Personal) who are to forward Confidential Reports directly to the Chairman Advisory Board. These referees should be able to attest to the candidate’s claim to high academic and managerial capabilities, as well as the candidate’s notable uprightness.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Applicants will be required to produce originals of the certificates and other relevant credentials if invited for an interview. Photocopies will not be accepted.

Salaries are attractive and are in line with those currently earned in reputable Colleges in Nigeria.
